Ransom Ren and Gertrude Ricou, c. 1905
Ransom Ren Ricou (1867-1925) and Gertrude Ricou (1870-1933). The couple married in 1890 and settled in Eden in 1894, established a commercial fishing company, R.R. Ricou and Sons, in 1896, which became a large and profitable business. Poor quality copy. -

"Hornet" sailboat, 1902
Sailboat with the name "Hornet" in dry storage. One man onboard and two men stand next to the boat. Capt. Hugh Willoughby identified as the man on the right. Written on the back of the photo: "The good ship 'Hornet' on which Clayton G. Dixon & Mrs. E. W. D. (Estelle Willoughby Dixon) spent six weeks the winter of 1902 -- A sixteen year old boy as deck hand, Mrs. C. G. D. -- as cook -- & navigator -- sailing from Cocoanut (sic) Grove to New River Inlet thru canal & mostly poling." -
Villa Zorayda, c. 1900
Front view of the Villa Zorayda house located in St. Augustine, Florida. Frank W. Smith built this Moorish Revival style winter home in 1883. In the early 1900s, the building became a restaurant and social club and later during the 1920s, it was turned into a casino and speakeasy. Abraham Mussallem also used the building as a home before turning it into a museum in 1933. -
