    Small white building. Sent to George R. Johnson in Bridgeton, New Jersey. Postmarked November 4, 1952.

    Built in 1943 by the Army Corp of Engineers to serve as the Martin County Service Club. After the war, the building was purchased by the City of Stuart and served as a community recreation hall and civic center. In 2023, it is the Flagler Center of Stuart, 246 SW Flagler Avenue, Stuart.

At the son's death in 1982, the collection was purchased with his estate by Robert Swayne of West Chester, then purchased again in 2011 by Mike Beatty of Chester, Pennsylvania, then sold on eBay to Stuart Heritage Museum in 2012.

    William Dowling McFarlan Jr. (1836-1925), brother Robert M. McFarlan (1843–1914), and cousin Louis Cass McFarlan (1850-1913) and his wife Lorena Maule McFarlan (1873-1962) and young son were regular winter visitors to Stuart from their home in Pennsylvania, between 1895 through about 1910. Both William, a retired merchant, and Louis, a cloth merchant, purchased several properties in Stuart between 1904 and 1907.

    It is assumed that Louis McFarlan was the photographer of this collection of glass plate negatives, since the plates were in his possession at the time of his death and inherited by his son. At the son's death in 1982, the collection was purchased with his estate by Robert Swayne of West Chester, then purchased again in 2011 by Mike Beatty of Chester, Pennsylvania, then sold on eBay to Stuart Heritage Museum in 2012.

    Broster Kitching originally established the rooming house Stuart House (later the Stuart Hotel) in the late 1880s. Flag draped over railing. After he became postmaster in 1894, the house also became the post office. He is pictured here standing on the right.
