"Speedy" Babbs on motorcycle, 1970

Description

"Speedy" Babbs sits on a parked motorcycle, shaking hands with his friend, Capt. F. A. Adams. Stuart water tower and businesses in view behind the two gentlemen. Louis "Speedy" Babbs was a professional stunt man, driving motorcycles and flying planes for movies, television, and exhibitions all over the country until his retirement in 1966. Babbs advocated against mandatory safety helmet laws and The Stuart News reported on his several arrests and trial for riding a motorcycle around Stuart without a helmet.
