Portraits of the Worshipful Masters of Acacia Lodge No. 163 (Stuart, Fla.) of the Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Florida. The "Worshipful Master" is the highest ranking officer in a Masonic lodge. Includes portraits from 1910 through 2006.

    Douglas E. Austin, Acacia masonic lodge master 1907-1910. Austin settled in Jensen Beach in about 1895 and became a pineapple farmer and realtor in Fort Pierce. His civic involvements include serving on the St. Lucie County Commission, heading the Improvement Club (which spearheaded getting roads paved), and organizing masonic lodges in Stuart and Okeechobee. He moved to Okeechobee (then called Tantie) in 1915, where he served as the second mayor. After moving back to St. Lucie County in 1922, he served on the North St. Lucie Drainage District Commission.

    Curt E. Schroeder, Acacia masonic lodge master 1917. Schroeder was the nephew of the early settlers the Stypmann brothers, Curt Schroeder arrived in Stuart in 1893. He served as one of the original aldermen of Stuart, and also school trustee, city commissioner, mayor, clerk, city manager, and tax assessor. He also managed a lumberyard and grocery. His series of articles in the Stuart News on "Early Settlers of St. Lucie River" (published between 1942 and 1945) provided essential historical information about the area.

    Morris Johns, Acacia masonic lodge master 1918. Morris Johns was a pineapple farmer, fishing guide, merchant, and undertaker. He also served as county commissioner and a deputy sheriff. He died while participating in a posse chasing the Ashley gang.

    George W. Parks Sr., Acacia masonic lodge master 1919. In 1901, George W. Parks Sr. opened the George Parks General Merchandise Store on what is now the Stuart Heritage Museum on Flagler Avenue in Stuart. He was also the agent for the Gulf Refining Company and was killed when a fuel truck exploded.

    Sam Mathews, Acacia masonic lodge master 1920-1921. Mathews settled in Stuart in the early 1900s and worked as a contractor, constructing many of the buildings in early Stuart. He also served as an alderman in the city of Stuart, with the National Guard during World War I, and as a building inspector at Camp Murphy during WWII.

    Joseph A. Youngblood, Acacia masonic lodge master 1922. Joseph A. Youngblood was the principal of the Stuart School between 1914 and 1918. His wife Ethel was assistant principal and they set up the high school and secured an accredited rating for the school. Later he was the Palm Beach County school superintendent from 1925 to 1936, then served as State Administrator for the National Youth Administration.

    Loris B. Eurit, Acacia masonic lodge master 1924. Loris Bane Eurit served as a station agent for the FEC railroad becoming chief of police for the City of Stuart and then the city manager for 12 years.
