F.L. Powell's Diner & Motel, c. 1955
Cars parked in front of the F.L. Powell's Diner & Motel on U.S. 1 in North Stuart, about two miles north of the Roosevelt Bridge. The diner opened in 1949 and existed until at least 1970. Signs include food available, "tasty food," and "air conditioning optional." -

The Parkotel Court motel with its several small buildings or cottages and two cars parked in the driveway in front of the motel. Parkotel Court opened around 1952 and was located around 1 1/2 miles south of Stuart. -

The Blue Goose Inn opened in 1944 replacing Fuller's Bar which occupied the location previously. The business expanded over the years to include cottages for lodging (Blue Goose Court). Pitchford Auto Camp, c. 1935
Cabin, cars, and trailers at the Pitchford Auto Camp in Jensen Beach. After Dixie Highway was completed in 1915, offering a route from Montreal to Miami, tourism increased dramatically. Pitchford Camp, established by Joseph J. Pitchford in the early 1920s on Dixie Highway, and later expanded by his sons, offered by 1932 twenty-five cabins, tent and trailer space, a bath house, laundry facilities, milk delivery, and boat rental, all for $1 a night for a cabin and 25 cents for tents. -
